Bottom-rankedBasket Ostrava (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 86-50 loss to third ranked Zabiny Brno (5-1) in Brno on Saturday evening. Zabiny Brno outrebounded Basket Ostrava 46-29 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Zabiny Brno looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Basket Ostrava 's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Slovenian power forward Shante Evans (185-1991, college: Hofstra) who helped to win the game recording 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Greek power forward Artemis Spanou (186-1993, college: RMU) who added 13 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Five Zabiny Brno players scored in double figures. International center Katerina Rokosova (194-1997) responded with 12 points and American forward Skylar Treadwell (185-2002, college: Bellarmine) scored 5 points and 9 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Zabiny Brno maintains third position with 5-1 record having seven points less than leader USK Praha. Newly promoted Basket Ostrava still closes the standings with eight games lost.
